Justin Dom
Professional software breaker, okay pianist
Work and Education
I studied at UMass Lowell and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Physics. For required courses, we use C/C++ and MIPS Assembly and now I spend too much time wondering how things work under the hood.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE)
I interned at HPE on the QA team while in college for a few years where I got to professionally break software for the first time. I self-learned Python during this time and wrote my own automated testing framework from scratch and taught my teammates to use it. At some point after graduation, I came back to HPE as a software engineer in systems under a different team where we utilized devtest practices and also worked closely with the devops team.
Snowdaes
I worked at Snowdaes throughout high school and college. I made bubble tea and regularly took orders in Khmer and Spanish. My favorite bubble tea flavor is taro!
Projects
Learning Using Texts (Lutev3)
Lutev3 is an open-source project that aims to teach languages using real-life texts. There was a community need for Thai which wasn’t supported at the time and I helped out by adding parser support for Thai and Khmer (my heritage language).
Hobbies
I self-learned music theory when I was 14 using this site and found out I really enjoyed it. For my 16th birthday party I got a Casio CDP-120 keyboard and later on, one of my videos went mini-viral!
A typical day out exploring the city, shot on my Nikon D3400
When in school, I also fell in love with photography and making short films (I really need to get back into it). I enjoy editing videos, creating VFX and my camera is a Nikon D3400.
I cannot walk by traintracks without taking a picture
Growing up, I did gymnastics and would hang out and do parkour with friends. For events, I only did floor.
